Editorial & accuracy policy

Last updated: June 2026. This policy governs how we collect data, verify it, label automation, handle corrections, and keep advertising separate from rankings.

1. Sourcing

We aggregate factual data — prices, discounts, store availability — from public store data and reputable public price-tracking sources. We aggregate facts, not anyone's written content, and we prefer official sources and openly available data. When a source's terms disallow use, we don't use it.

2. Verification standard

Before any price is published it must pass, in order:

  • Schema & sanity checks — automated, deterministic. Malformed or impossible values are rejected outright.
  • Source re-check — we re-fetch the original listing and confirm the exact quoted figure appears there.
  • Two-source agreement — a second independent source must confirm the price within tolerance, or the deal is flagged for review.
  • Independent judgment — a separate reviewing model, from a different model family, rules each figure supported or unsupported.
  • Human approval — a named editor reviews the daily queue and approves or rejects each batch.

Anything that fails a step is routed to human review or rejected — never published silently.

3. Use of automation (AI disclosure)

Our data pipeline uses automated systems, including AI models, to read store pages and structure data. We disclose this openly. Automation is always supervised: a human reviews output before publication, and we never publish AI-generated opinion or pad pages with generated prose. Short factual summaries attached to a deal are generated only from already-verified fields and are checked so no figure appears that isn't in the verified data.

4. Corrections

Prices move fast and sources occasionally err. When we learn a published figure is wrong, we re-run it through the pipeline, correct it, and log the change with a timestamp. To report an error, email corrections@snagkey.example. Every published figure is backed by an audit record showing its source, the exact quote, and when it was confirmed.

5. Advertising & affiliate disclosure

Some outbound store links are affiliate links; we may earn a commission on purchases at no cost to you. We may also display advertising. Revenue never influences rankings. Deals are ordered by discount and verification status only — not by commission. Advertisers cannot pay to be listed, ranked higher, or to have a deal verified faster. This firewall is non-negotiable.

6. Independence

SnagKey is independent and not affiliated with any store or publisher. We have no obligation to feature any retailer, and inclusion is based solely on whether their public pricing data clears our verification bar.
